About Radio Ashford

Radio Ashford, formerly known as AHBS Community Radio, broadcasts on 107.1FM to Ashford, Kent and features a wide variety of music together with community news and information. You can also hear our Events Diary and Community Focus updates every hour during the day with information on a range of events, activities, fundraising and voluntary services in Ashford.

Each weekday morning from 6am to 10am you can 'Wake Up With Webbo'. Join John 'Webbo' Webster for a live breakfast show, with a difference!

Ashford Hometime runs from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays, featuring a wide mix of music and community information.

Every weekday evening from 7pm to 9pm, plus weekends from 5pm, you can listen to the evening request show, produced by AHBS Hospital Radio live from the William Harvey Hospital, for requests, dedications and more. You can join in wherever you are with a free call to the studios from within the hospital, by phone, SMS text message, through the website or by emails sent to studio@ahbs.org.uk.

We also have speciality music programmes, that also feature the local music, produced by the Ashford Music Profile, each weekday evening from 9pm and weekends from 7pm. Including:

  • Reggae Roy
  • Rock Hard
  • The Wood and the Wire (folk & acoustic)
  • Suited and Booted (Ska)
  • Borough Blues
  • Sixties on a Sunday
  • Heavy Rotation

Ashford Hospital Broadcasting Service

AHBS has been broadcasting to the patients and staff of Ashford's hospitals for nearly 40 years.

We broadcast a mixture of music, information and entertainment 24 hours a day via the Hospedia bedside entertainment system to the William Harvey Hospital. You can find us there on Radio Channel 1, 24 hours a day.

As a registered charity the Ashford Hospital Broadcasting Service relies on donations, grants and fundraising to keep operating. Ashford Music Profile

The Ashford Music Profile provides specialist music shows every weekday evenings from 9pm and weekends from 7pm. The shows include:

  • Reggae Roy; on Mondays evenings
  • Rock Hard; a great selelction of rock music on Tuesdays
  • The Wood and the Wire; a regular folk music programme on Wednesdays
  • Suited and Booted, Ska music on Thursdays
  • Borough Blues, each Friday
  • Sixties on a Sunday, with Alison Quinn
  • Heavy Rotation, each Sunday evening

P5 Academy

P5 Academy delivered training to young people in Ashford, including ICT and media studies. Their radio studio also plays host to some live and recorded programmes on Radio Ashford.

Churches

Opportunities are available for locally based faith organisations to make programmes for Community Radio and for both regular and festival services to be broadcast.

Distraction burglary reported in Ashford
9th October 2017 11:30

Kent Police is investigating a report of a distraction burglary in Ashford in which money was stolen from an elderly woman's purse.

The offender called on the woman at her home in the Brookfield Road area on Monday evening (2nd October).

Detective Sergeant Carl Evans said: ‘The man claimed there was a problem with the water supply and asked the elderly occupant to go upstairs to check a radiator. After he'd gone she realised money had been stolen from her purse.'
