There will be more than 20 stalls from groups as varied as the Young Lives Foundation, which works with vulnerable young people, Kent Police, Friends of Singleton Lake, older people’s advocacy charity CROP Kent to Ashford Mediation and food redistribution charity Fareshare Kent.
As well as balloon modeller Stu Pendous, facepainter Fizz Wizz Faces and magician JK Magik, stallholders will be promoting their organisations with free activities include growing a tree, taking a quiz, a pirate ship and simulation spectacles to illustrate the good work they do in the town.
Organiser Emma Cooney from Stronger Kent Communities said: “People can pop in and take a look at the good things happening in the area with loads of different organisations, get information and advice, do an activity or sign up for volunteering.
“Volunteering is generally doing something to help the community for a couple of hours a week. It can be anything from befriending a young person in care to helping local wildlife. It can be a great way to meet people, boost skills, gain confidence or positively use your time.”
Volunteering opportunities include Hate Crime Volunteer with Victim Support, Guardian of the Woods with the Roots Project, reading helper with Beanstalk Kent, tour guide with Willesborough Windmill, Livestock checker with Kent Wildlife Trust.
And organisations have nominated their volunteers to receive a certificate of thanks during the event with Ashford MP Damian Green and Ashford Volunteer Centre.
