Date Posted: 12th May 2017

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault that is reported to have taken place in Ashford.

The assault is said to have occurred on the A2042 between 3.30am and 4am on Monday 17th April.

Investigating officer Police Constable Joshua Hammond said: ‘The victim was walking along the road from Station Road into Wellesley Road with a friend when an altercation broke out between him and a group of people behind him. He was hit over the head with a bottle causing a cut, for which he needed stitches. The offender then ran off with others towards Ashford International Station.'

The offender is described as aged between 18 and 23, 5ft 7in tall, unshaven with dark hair and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark top, possibly with stripes, and dark blue jeans.

Police Constable Hammond said: ‘We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but believe there may be other people who saw the assault and could have important information for our investigation.'

Anyone with information about the assault or who recognises the description is asked to phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference number ZY/15132/17.
